Who has a competent friend, possibly a carpenter that tells you they are confident in a kitchen install? We recently got asked to install a boiler after the installation of a newly fitted kitchen. The kitchen looked fantastic but when installing the boiler a gas leak was identified in the checks.

Gas Safe Engineers have the right equipment and in this instance a gauge to check for gas leaks. The client’s friend who had installed the kitchen had not installed or contemplated an isolation valve. When the gas leak was identified Andrew had to find the gas leak which involved part dismantling of the kitchen.

This resulted in additional costs which was more than what the client thought they’d saved from skipping using a Gas Safe Engineer. Not only did this work out more costly but the client put their loved ones at risk. Is it worth it? Make sure you involve a Gas Safe Registered Engineer ahead of any gas installation, cutting corners can be extremely costly and dangerous.
